Getting to know Jesus
It's as easy as A-B-C
Getting to know Jesus is the most important and life-changing thing you will ever do. Just look at the benefits....
· It will bring you peace and joy through forgiveness of your sins.
· It will change your whole perspective on life and other people.
· It will give you new hope and comfort, and a real reason for living.
· It will guarantee you a place in heaven through God's free gift of eternal life.
· It will introduce you to a whole new loving family through the Church.
The Bible records that Jesus said of himself....
· "I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)
· "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." (John 10:10)
· "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." (John 8:12)
Although this will be the most important and life-changing thing you will ever do, it's as easy as A-B-C.
Here is what to do....
ADMIT and REPENT.
BELIEVE and RECEIVE.
COMMIT and READJUST.
· ADMIT that you are a sinner and in need of forgiveness and cleansing...
...then REPENT of your sin—say 'Sorry' and change direction from going your way to going Jesus' way.
· BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that by his death on the cross he has the power to forgive your sin and to make you clean...
...then RECEIVE Jesus into your life—simply ask him to come in, forgive your sin, and make you clean.
· COMMIT yourself to Jesus making him Lord of everything in your life...
...then READJUST your lifestyle making church attendance, prayer and Bible study a priority.
Here is a prayer which you may find helpful...
Dear Jesus,
I admit that I have given you very little time in my life so far. I also admit that I am a sinner and in need of forgiveness and cleansing.
I believe that you are the Son of God and that through your death on the cross you have the power to take away my sin and make me clean.
I am sorry and repent of my sin. Please forgive me, cleanse me, and come into my life. I now receive you as my personal Saviour and Lord.
I commit my whole life to you from this moment on. Please help me to readjust my lifestyle in order that I may make church, prayer and Bible study a real priority.
Thank you for dying for me, for forgiving my sin, for becoming my Saviour and Lord, and for your free gift of eternal life. Amen.
If you have prayed this prayer, and really meant it, you are already Getting to know Jesus. Now begin to enjoy your new life experiencing his love and presence with you at all times.
